Last updated: September 2025
1) General
- Who we serve. Services are offered to residential and commercial customers within Nova Scotia. Certain services may extend beyond NS by written agreement.
- Quotations. Quotes are based on information provided (inventory, access, distances, photos) and are valid for 14 days unless otherwise stated. Quotes may be adjusted if on-site conditions differ materially (e.g., extra items, long carries, stairs, elevator delays, access restrictions).
- Scheduling windows. We provide arrival windows and communicate updates. Weather, traffic, or facility delays may affect timing. We’ll keep you informed and work to minimize impact.
- Access & safety. You agree to provide safe, legal access and to disclose hazards (pets, alarms, fragile areas, hazardous materials). We may refuse unsafe work without liability.
- Payment. Unless otherwise noted, payment is due upon completion of service. We accept major payment methods advertised on our site or quote. Deposits may be required for long-distance or specialty services.
- Cancellations & rescheduling. Please provide 48 hours’ notice for standard jobs and 5 business days for long-distance/specialty work. Late cancellations may incur a fee to cover allocated crew/equipment and lost time.
- Workmanship. We perform services in a skillful and workmanlike manner as required under Nova Scotia consumer law. Remedies are limited as set out below. (See “Liability & Claims”.)
- No hazardous materials. We do not handle hazardous/regulated items (e.g., asbestos, lead paint, mould, gasoline, solvents, pressurized cylinders, biohazards, explosives). If discovered, we will stop and advise next steps. Fees may apply for time on site.
2) Moving (Local & Long-Distance)
2.1 What’s Included
- Professional crew, truck, pads/blankets, basic protection for doors/floors where practical.
- Standard disassembly/reassembly of common furniture (beds, tables) when requested.
- Basic valuation coverage (see “Liability & Claims”).
2.2 Customer Responsibilities
- Pack contents safely unless packing service is booked. Fragile/valuables must be declared and packed appropriately.
- Reserve elevators/loading zones and obtain permissions where required.
- Disconnect appliances/electronics; empty freezers/refrigerators; remove wall-mounted items unless booked as add-ons.
2.3 Time & Charges
- Local moves are typically time-and-materials with travel time to/from our yard. Minimums may apply.
- Waiting time, long carries (>75 ft), stairs beyond quoted, shuttle use, or additional pickups/drop-offs may be chargeable.
2.4 Long-Distance Options
- Express: Dedicated truck/crew for fastest direct delivery.
- Flex: Shared-load delivery windows for best value (grouped routes). Dates are approximate; we’ll provide planned windows and updates.
3) Junk Removal
- Pricing is typically based on volume/weight, access, and disposal fees. Single items may be flat-rate.
- We sort for recycling/diversion where feasible and dispose at approved facilities in accordance with municipal by-laws. Customer is responsible for any undisclosed prohibited materials discovered in loads.
- We cannot remove certain items (e.g., hazardous waste, chemicals, fuel, pressurized tanks, biomedical waste). Ask us for guidance and alternatives.
4) Demolition (Selective / Small Structures)
- Scope typically includes protection, selective removal, load-out, haul-away, and broom-clean. Concrete/post pulling, cutting, or backfill are add-ons.
- Customer is responsible for confirming that structural elements to be removed are non-load-bearing unless otherwise arranged in writing.
- Hazardous materials (asbestos, lead paint, mould) require licensed abatement prior to our work. If suspected on site, we may pause until testing/abatement is completed.
- All construction & demolition debris is transported to licensed facilities; recoverable materials may be diverted from landfill per local policies.
5) Vehicle Hauling
5.1 Vehicle Hauling
- We move running and non-running vehicles (cars, SUVs, light trucks) and small equipment suitable for our carriers (winch-on). Disclose steering/brake status and ground clearance.
- Keys and necessary documents must be available at pickup.
- We may refuse loads that present unreasonable risk (fluid leaks, unsecured loads, unsafe environments).
6) Snow Removal (Seasonal & Per-Visit)
- Service area & surfaces: driveways, walkways, steps, and small commercial lots as specified in your quote.
- Storms & “events”: Service is triggered by snowfall thresholds defined in your quote. When required to verify, we use the nearest Environment Canada station records for snowfall totals.
- Timing: For typical events, clearing generally occurs within a post-storm window noted in your quote/contract. Extreme or prolonged events may require multiple passes and extended windows.
- Access: You agree to clear vehicles/obstacles so we can service surfaces safely. We may skip obstructed areas and return later as scheduling allows (additional fees may apply).
- De-icing: Salt/sand/ice-melt applied as specified. Pet-/paver-safe alternatives available on request.
7) Liability, Valuation & Claims
- Care standard. We will provide services in a skillful and workmanlike manner. If we fall short, please notify us promptly so we can address the issue.
- Basic valuation (moving/hauling): Unless otherwise agreed, our liability for loss or damage to goods while in our care is limited to a standard valuation per pound/kg per item or the lesser of repair or depreciated value, subject to exclusions (inherent vice, pre-existing damage, inadequate packing when not performed by us, natural wear/tear). Enhanced coverage may be available if requested before service day.
- Site conditions. We aren’t liable for damage arising from hidden defects, unsafe or inadequate access, or customer-packed boxes with insufficient protection.
- Indirect damages. We are not liable for consequential, incidental, or special damages, loss of profits, or business interruption.
- Claims process. Report concerns in writing within 7 days of service completion with photos and a description. We may inspect items and attempt repair, replacement, or reasonable compensation within the stated limitations.
8) Compliance, Disposal & Recycling
- We follow applicable municipal and provincial rules for waste handling, including use of licensed facilities for construction & demolition materials and compliance with local collection and disposal by-laws.
- We may decline to transport materials to unapproved sites or accept loads that would breach applicable rules.
9) Force Majeure
We are not responsible for delays or non-performance caused by events beyond our reasonable control (severe weather, emergency closures, strikes, accidents, road bans, utility outages). We will resume as soon as reasonably possible.
10) Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of Nova Scotia and applicable federal laws of Canada. Disputes shall be addressed first through good-faith discussion. If unresolved, matters may proceed in a Nova Scotia court of competent jurisdiction.
11) Updates
We may update these Terms from time to time. The version in effect at the time of booking applies to your service.
Note: This page is for general information and service terms. It is not legal advice. Some jobs require a signed work order or service-specific addendum (e.g., long-distance schedules, demolition scope, snow thresholds). If any term is held invalid, remaining terms continue in effect.
